Christian Ministries

Contending For The Faith Church Ministries is a non-denominational church family that supports one another, encourages individual and corporate growth and seeks to build up the body of Christ through dedicated service and commitment to spreading the Word of God.  With integrity and consistency, we endeavor to effectively evangelize through our Christian ministries.  Our ministries include:

» Armor Bearer
Remaining nearby at all times, members attend to the needs and requests of our Pastor, First Lady and their children.  They continually cover the Royal family in prayer, especially before and after services.

» Building Security Team
Members ensure the grounds and edifice are safe and secure for Sunday and evening worship services.

» Custodial Team Ministry
Members ensure the edifice interior is kept tidy, neat and clean.  The sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, offices and restrooms are cleaned in-house for regular upkeep.

» Discipleship Ministry
New converts or members who have come on their Christian experience are assigned to a seasoned member to help guide and counsel them in their walk with the Lord as needed and answer any questions or concerns as they gain familiarity with the ministry.

» Greeters' Ministry
Members welcome visitors and fellow members when they enter the edifice for Sunday and evening worship services.  Warm smiles and heartfelt hugs are liberally given to everyone with love.

» Health and Nutrition Ministry
Coming Soon...

» Hospitality Ministry
Members prepare and serve refreshments to guests for special occasions.

» Intercessory Prayer Ministry
Members bombard heaven on behalf of others who have asked for special prayer, our church family (including leaders, Pastor, Lady Royal and Royal children) and any person or matter they are led to bring before the Lord in prayer.  Even though we have a group of members who meet regularly for this sole purpose, we believe all of our members are called to be intercessors.

» Married Couples Ministry
(Under Development With Our Sister Church Philippi COC)

» Men's Fellowship Ministry
Men are welcome on Saturday mornings, usually monthly, to fellowship with brothers in Christ and friends. Occasionally, breakfast is served.  The men also hold cookouts for the local community from time to time as well as themselves.

» Women Minister's Fellowship Ministry
Periodically during the year, our women ministers fellowship together by attending the movies, having dinner in a restaurant or potlucks at individual homes or meeting to have bible discussions.

» Multimedia Ministry
Sermons and Bible Studies are recorded and made available via CDs, DVDs and cassette tapes to reinforce teaching, increase learning and promote application. CDs, DVDs, and cassette tapes can be purchased at the sound booth in person or ordered via Contact Us.  You may also listen to a select few available under Media.

» Music & Sound Ministry
Praise & Worship Teams lead the congregation into the presence of God through song and exaltation.  Adult, male, teen, youth and mass choirs are accompanied by musicians (keyboardists and percussionists) on Sunday worship services and other engagements.  The Sound Team ensures all equipment (microphones, instruments, etc.) works properly and is ready for use at the desired times.  Every part combines to make the atmosphere conducive for a transformative and life-changing worship experience.

» New Members Ministry
Classes for new members are held on Sundays at 10 AM for a six-week period.  Taught by three of our associate ministers, classes cover basic Christian doctrine and church order.

» Rest Home Ministry
Mothers and Deacons visit those who reside in our local rest homes.

» Seniors Ministry
Seniors who are 70 years and older are shown much love and respect by our church family.  We value their wisdom and longevity.  Throughout the year, we honor our male and female members who have reached this milestone in special ways, including an annual service held in June to recognize them individually.

» Singles Ministry
Single women, 18 and older, meet monthly (every first Saturday at 10 a.m.).  During these meetings, women are encouraged and strengthened by one another in their season of singleness through the Word of God, open discussions and fellowship.  Throughout the year, they participate in various activities and host events such as conferences, retreats and trips to name a few.  Their motto is "We are Top of the Line".

» Sunday School Ministry
With the exception of fourth Sundays, classes are held every Sunday morning for the youth by age group in the designated classroom.  Once a student becomes ready to advance, he or she graduates and enters the next level.  Graduation ceremonies are held during Sunday worship services to recognize students and give them an opportunity to show the material learned.  Our youth leaders work passionately with the youth.

Adult classes begin at 9:50 AM in the sanctuary.

» Ushers Ministry
Members attend to the requests and needs of the congregation for fans, envelopes or other items.  They also assist with the collection of offerings and wherever else necessary during services.

» Women's Fellowship Ministry
Women are welcome on Saturday mornings, usually monthly, to fellowship with sisters in Christ and friends.  The morning fellowship begins with praise & worship and a light breakfast followed by a speaker(s) and/or presentation(s) designed for women.  Additionally, the women's fellowship participates in various outings and trips inside and outside of NC.

» Young Ladies Living Out Loud for Christ
Young girls in the 6th-12th grades spend quality time with leaders who teach and demonstrate how to live out loud for Christ. Leaders plan various activities for the girls who participate, giving them an outlet to express themselves in positive ways unlike the alternative of negative influences such as sex/pregnancy, homosexuality, gangs, drugs and alcohol.  The Young Ladies LOL4C meet every third Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

» Young Men of Valor
Teenage boys spend quality time with leaders who teach and demonstrate how to be valiant men of God.  Leaders plan various activities for the boys who participate, giving them an outlet to express themselves in positive ways unlike the alternative of negative influences such as sex, homosexuality, gangs, drugs and alcohol.  The YMOV meet every 1st Saturday at 10 a.m.

» Youth Ministry
To foster the spiritual and academic development of our youth, we offer several means of accomplishing this goal.

Children's Nursery
Our children's nursery is a fun, safe and nurturing place to learn God's word.  We serve ages three to five, five to seven and seven to 12.

Children's Church
Youth are able to attend Sunday church services that are on their level of understanding.

Vacation Bible School

Scholarship

S
cholarships are awarded to our high school graduate members who have actively participated in the ministry on a regular basis for a set period of time.  We encourage our graduates to pursue higher education (college or university), enlist (military) or attend a trade school of some sort.  Local guidance counselors meet periodically with students to cover important processes such as taking necessary courses, registering/preparing for entrance tests, completing applications and applying for financial aid.  Additionally, our high school students and parents visit colleges and universities of their choice, where they have the opportunity to tour campuses, attend open houses and receive pertinent information to aid them in their decision-making.

Community Outreach

We believe in showing the love of God to our community by serving their physical and spiritual needs.  Our community outreach ministries include:

» Food Pantry

Canned and dry goods are maintained through donations for distribution to those in need of food.

 » Soup Kitchen

Breakfast is provided every Sunday morning from 7am to 9am for anyone needing a hot or free meal.  A brief service is held with the Word of God ministered to those present before serving the food.

» Homeless Shelter Outreach

Members volunteer their time on a regular basis to visit those who reside in our local homeless shelter for women.  During these visits, they share the Word of God and oftentimes witness the changing of lives for the better.  Souls are saved!

» Clothing Giveaway

Clothes for men, women and children are maintained through donations for distribution to those in need of clothing.  Giveaways are held on every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 9am to 12pm.
