Pastor Dameion L. Royal
Pastor Dameion L. Royal is a native of New Bern, North Carolina, and he is a proud member of the St. Paul Church of Christ in the Pembroke community. He began his official preaching ministry as a teenager under the leadership of the late Dr. Andrew Mckinley Cogdell. Being ordained by the Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly in 1994, Elder Royal has spent the last twenty-eight years traveling near and far declaring the Word of Jesus Christ.
In 1998, Pastor Royal graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders. Since that time, he has earned a Master of Theological Studies, Master of Religious Education, and the Master of Divinity Equivalency from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. On May 19, 2018, he also earned a Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Leadership and Management from Liberty University.

Pastor Royal spent several years as an evangelist and an Instructor at the Goldsboro Disciple’s Ministers Training Institute. In 1997, following his years of evangelism, he was called to the St. Rose Church of Christ to serve and assist the late Bishop Mordecai W. Johnson. In 2000, upon Bishop Johnson’s retirement, Pastor Royal was called to serve as the pastor of the St. Rose Church of Christ for three years! In 2004, by the will of God, Elder Royal became the pastor and founder of Contending for the Faith Church in Wilson, N.C. Since the church’s inception, God has blessed him with the support of many faithful parishioners. Indeed, the Lord’s favor and faithfulness have rested upon him and the church family; together they were blessed to build a new edifice which was dedicated in 2006.
In 2011, Pastor Dameion Royal was called to serve as an assistant pastor to his uncle, the late Bishop Randy B. Royal and the Philippi Church of Christ in Greenville, N.C. After Bishop Randy B. Royal went home to be the Lord on July 26, 2015, Pastor Dameion L. Royal was elected as pastor of Philippi Church of Christ on August 26, 2015. God has blessed Pastor Royal with another loving church family, and he is excited about the call of God and the powerful things that will take place in both churches.

Pastor Royal has a heart to obey God and serve His people, and he believes that God has given him a divine mandate to advance the Kingdom through preaching, teaching, training and demonstration of Christ’s Word. He firmly believes that as he continues to live before the Lord in obedience, that God will use him to touch lives in increasingly greater ways.
Elder Royal is married to Lady Melessha Royal and they are the proud parents of three children: Dameion Jr., Isaiah and Sarah. He thanks God for his family and many friends who have helped shape his life and ministry. Indeed, he is humbled by the awesome grace that has been extended to him.
